Minnesota Housing produces videos for an occasional series called “Mobile Minnesota Housing.” These feature Commissioner Ho and other Agency leaders when they are visiting partners around the state.
This video features two new construction projects in Duluth: the Decker Dwellings groundbreaking (a 9% tax credit project), and Garfield Square Apartments (financed with Housing Infrastructure Bonds).
A current resident of Garfield shares her lived experience of homelessness and what it means to her to have a home today.
Key learnings:
Supportive housing like Garfield Square are only economically feasible with state support in the form of Housing Infrastructure Bonds.
Low Income Housing Tax Credits make it possible to build new apartment homes for working families with lower incomes in a way that would not be possible in market-rate housing.
