The Homeownership Opportunity Alliance (HOA) is a working coalition of engaged industry leaders actively dedicated to closing Minnesota’s racial homeownership gap – one of the worst in the Nation. Convened by the nonprofit Minnesota Homeownership Center and the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency in 2017, the Coalition has grown to more than 50 like-minded nonprofits, government agencies, lending institutions and foundations working together on multiple culturally appropriate campaigns aimed at removing the barriers to homeownership these underserved communities regularly experience: lack of assets for down payment; lack of familiarity with the mortgage process; limited access to credit; and discrimination.
